8BitDo Pro 2 Bluetooth Pairing Failed

I just received a new 8BitDo Pro 2 with the hall effect joystick but can't get the controller to pair with the MiSTer. The controller is detected and pairing is attempted but fails:

Switch input devices(s)
to pairing mode.

Press Finish when done

Searching...

NAME: Pro Controller
MAC: E4:17:D8:xx:xx:xx

Pairing...
Type 0000 and <Enter>
Authentication Failed
Pair error!

I've edited out the MAC address, but it's there.

There is no pause between the "Type 0000" line and the authentication failure even if there was a way to enter a PIN. I can pair other devices, an apple bluetooth keyboard and a wiimote. My adapter is an D-Link DBT-120, old but just what I had on hand.

Update the firmware this morning, but no change.

Has anyone used this controller or have any suggestions on fixing or debugging?

I highly recommend using 8Bitdo wireless adapters instead of any generic bluetooth adapters.
not just for this controller but for any bluetooth controller.
they have a easy pair button and never lose connection.
so much easier and MUCH more user friendly.
I even use them with my PC now days.
they do more than generic bluetooth adapters..

I see a couple different 8bitdo adapters, brown or black, some with a "2" on them. Is there a particular one to chose?

Still reading through the thread and looking at the code in /usr/sbin/btctl, but I'm not overly familiar with python or the APIs involved...

2nd that - swapped my BT dongle against an 8bitdo adapter and never looked back. Using the v2.

they're not that much different as far as I know.

If you can, take the "2", it has higher compatibility (forgot to what console ) and it is connecting way faster than the older one.

I have both, as my Wife is also using it.
