In retrospect, see the appeal of keeping some titles "for kickstarter backers only" - but there should be a timed release for such titles, making them playable on any generation of the Next. Looking forward to an ever brighter future for this cool machine.

I don't. All that can possibly achieve is to reduce software sales levels, and you'd be hard pressed to find a developer for such a niche market in the first place hoping for even less sales (unless they are somehow getting kickbacks from the hardware manufacturer, which I also doubt).

The development of the backers only ZX Next games is financed from the kickstarter funds.

The games were part of the stretch goals, that's how crowdfunding works. Don't see a problem with this. There are a lot of games for the Next that are developed and published the normal way. If I see it correct, we are talking about a single game at the moment that is not available for purchase (Baggers in Space: Detour) and this game is already announced for a normal release:

Ahhh...I thought it was a separate deal. If it's a machine bundle, I agree, that's alright for attracting purchasers (though to my understanding the Next has never been exactly easy to obtain).

Re: Spectrum Next Games?
Yes and No, if you were willing to back the machine it was always easy to obtain, the first Kickstarters ran for quite a while and everybody who wanted was able to get a machine in these crowdfuning rounds (a 3rd round is already announced). Outside of the Kickstarter campaigns it was difficult to obtain a machine, they put some surplus production in their shop after delivering the KS machines, but that's it. You can buy one of the clones regulary.
I think the games were meant more as a thanks for the backers and less as an incentive to buy the machine.
