Haven’t Updated My MiSTer in One and a Half Years

Post by Captain FPGA »

Now that the 3DO core is in the works i have a reason to. If i hit up update all can i expect everything to go through smoothly or is there some extra configurations ill need?

I use SAM for game music and that other one for rando wallpapers, let me know if theres anything i should know.

I would review your

Code: Select all

/media/fat/downloader.ini

Outdated stuff like

Code: Select all

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/RobertPeip/Mister64/db/db.json.zip

If you experience issues download the latest update_all.sh manually

You really should update regularly. The cores are improved many times and Linux is updated.

I got a friend into FPGA, and last week he got himself a pre-owned full Mister stack on eBay.
I helped him set it up over the weekend, and I noticed that (similar to the OP) update hadn't been ran in over a year. I didn't run it because he said he was happy with the way it was running. I did tell him of all the excellent fixes the cores have recieved over the last year, including the excellent Atari 800 core.
So, whats the worst that could happen if I just ran a full update ?

I bought a brand new PC 2 weeks ago.. Came with Windows on it. Copied the key down and wiped everything. It runs Linux now. I wouldn't have even used that SD card. I'm pretty sure I tossed the SD that came with my DE10 and the one that came with my MiSTer Pi.

I'm paranoid. Please tell me I'm just being paranoid...

Heads up - none of the Atari 800 core improvements have made it to MiSTer Official yet as it is still very much in flux.

Saw the X68000 Sharp get a new WIP so thats a reason to update it

I might've made the leap to update all earlier for Captain America & the Avengers the arcade or Bucky O'Hare. Thankfully the 3DO was enough to get me to update. I have weird tastes i know.
