Didn't change anything - but after a few months of not using the core it will not load

Post by spikemorrissey »

I have had no problems running the core.
I haven't used it for a few months and now suddenly it refuses to boot in the core - i can get the OSD but nothing else and I haven't changed a thing! My files are still there and the config is EXACTLY the same!!
No problems with other cores.
Did a recent update for this core stop it working? Could anyone advise please?

Resetting the core's config might solve the issue.

Thank you - that was exactly it - just altering the config in the OSD did the trick
How strange!

Could have been a core update altered the config strings.

Unfortunately I am now suffering from the problem that on most occasions the core just boots to a black screen. Occasionally I can get it to get to the bootup screen and memory test and then it launches. What could be going on here?

I think I found a fix for this. Here is what I do:

My startup settings (when the core loads) are: TOS 1.04 (DE). When I see a black screen (or a complete white screen that never changes), all I do is temporaily set the rom version to TOS 1.0 (DE) which – so far – always led to getting a picture. Once that's achieved, I swap back to TOS 1.04 and – voila – the picture is back and will stay that way until the time you change the core. When you go back to the Atari ST core it might show the black (or white) screen at which point you need to load TOS 1.0 again and then switch to the TOS version you want.

I have tested this approach with cold reset/reset and power off/on and it always has worked wonderfully.

Hope that helps,

Armin

I have noticed I get black screen whenever I load Atari ST core after another core was previously loaded. Resetting Mister and fresh loading Atari ST core seems to solve the issue.
