I have just tried to login to my mister via ftp and it would appear that the password for root has changed, it was 1 but now I can't get in with that. Other than re format the sd card and starting again is there a way to get the password reset?

The password was "1" which is the default, but now that does not work. I did have ftp working with user root and pw 1 but now 2 weeks later this won't work.

If you have changed the password, I would assume copying the linux.img from the MiSTer SD Card Installer onto your SD card would revert any password changes you have made to your system.

You could also try hitting f9 on the Mister which will drop you to a linux prompt/login. See if root password of 1 still works there. If it doesn't, then you ruled out something ftp/setting related from the PC side.

I've tried going in via f9 and this also doesn't work.

I think I wil just use have to use a new sdcard with a fresh mister setup and copy all my files over.

Still having the issue? Your ftp client is likely starting out in the root users home directory. You need to step up one directory (often clicking on the ".." directory) then you should see a list of folders, one is media, and then in "media" you want "fat". That is the location for all the Mister related files.
