Jiffy Dos vs base kernel vs ??

Hey All,

I use Jiffy Dos primarily with my C64 core - but it doesn't have tape support so I often revert back to stock.
Are there any other kernels recommended for use with the MiSTer C64 that have benefits of JiffyDos in terms of performance (and maybe a few other bells and whistles), but like stock can handle tape loading?

I thought using cartridges wasn't possible on MiSTer's C64 core? ...

They work fine. I personally use Action Replay all the time.

I have my Action Replay cartridge file renamed so that it's auto connected when I boot the core..... just like the good old days :)
I've never used JiffyDos as I don't have a floppy drive for my real C64. I was going to build an SD2IEC device but then I bought a MiSTer and the C64 now stays in its box.
but I digress.... I find the AR cart to be perfect for everything I need... and more so I've lost interest in JiffyDos now

me too using AR6 like Fast Loader on auto connection when boot C64 core, it's twice faster than Jiffydos, don't block TAPs loading and i saw that is more compatible

Can you explain how this auto connecting works?

"Place the desired cartridge with the name boot3.rom in C64 folder to autoload it on start."

Plus with AR6, you get all the extras such as a machine code monitor (if that's your thing), poke finder, sprite editor and all sorts of other useful tools.
I even created a blank floppy image the other day and swapped some sprites between games. Completely pointless bu I had fun nontheless :D

I'm going to give AR6 a try. I've been using JiffyDOS and until this thread, I never gave AR a look.
It sounds like a nice tool.

it's worth googling the manual for it if you do....

Just remember that F11 hits the freeze button on the cart :)

i use Dolphindos3 kernal , because i used dolphindos in the past too .Dolphindos have some nice features like Sys$C000 instead of Sys49152 , unfortunately is parallel loading yet not supported.
