GBA screen tear

While waiting for my ram module to arrive I've been playing some of the cores that don't require it like the Genesis, Turbografx16, and Game Boy Advance. For some reason, the GBA core has noticeable screen tear especially during vertical scrolling that isn't present in the other 2 cores. Is this normal? Is this because I don't have the ram module?

I'm using HDMI out, vscale_mode=2, video_mode=8, and vsync_adjust=2, which is working great on the other cores. Main difference is I'm using the LCD grid filter on the GBA and the scanlines sharp on the other cores.

What options have you set in the OSD?

Please activate "Sync to core" in OSD and report back.

Yes rewind capture will pause the core for a few ms every second to take the capture, so this could also lead to this effect.

I checked again last night and the screen tear seemed to be gone and instead got some occasional image corruption flickers and lines for a frame like a bad VCR. So I'll thinking maybe it's the DDR RAM? I'll wait for the SD ram to arrive to compare again.

Rewind was not enabled. I'll try sync to core tonight. All other settings except the scaler and gamma were defaults.

What GBA Bios are you using? I had a similar issue until I used a proper bios. Noticed it with Minnish Cap.
Also that is a valuable tip regarding the sync. This solved another issue I was having earlier.

Thanks. I switched to the official bios and I think that may have helped as well. Will report back when I can test with the ram board if it ever arrives.
