Speed up randomly "sticks"

Hey guys,
Great core! I love the speedup functionality. Normally it seems to be "hold to run", but sometimes - randomly - it sticks. That means I have to press the button again to make it stop.
What would be the cause of this? Is the sticking functionality a feature (it would be useful), if so, how is it enabled and why does it come on randomly?
