WLAN issues in LXDE

My wifi stick stopped working after the major linux uptake. Therefore, I ordered a newer one that works right out of the box (wifi symbol in the MiSTer menu and ping in terminal). However, is does work not in LXDE! Firefox does not connect and ping says it cannot reach the network. :?: Any ideas are very much appreciated!

The wifi dongle itself works if the kernel supports it. That's independent of a desktop environment. What you may be looking at, is a graphical configurator for NetworkManager that has its own ideas about your network connection. Try an online search for LXDE and NetworkManager, that should give you hints on where to look for the settings. You'll probably be able to set addressing to dynamic/DHCP and take it from there once you find the right applet. I would point it out, but I'm not fluent with LXDE.
