Hello!

I cannot find anything about the memory card files. .mcd

I tried making empty text files and renaming them from New document.txt into 1.mcd. Is that enough?

There is one in the old repo and also in the current, updated one:

Code: Select all

dd if=/dev/zero bs=8192 count=16 of=memcard.mcd
Is there any objection to doing it this way?

Creating an empty file does seem to work, although it's worth keeping in mind that PS1 memory cards need to be formatted before a game can save to them. I know some games are able to handle formatting the card (and might even nicely ask permission before doing so), but I don't know how widespread that is.

edit: It occurs to me that I didn't word this very clearly. I tried out a 128K file full of zero, not a zero-byte file.

The english translation of Racing Lagoon kindly formatted my memory card and it worked perfectly after that.

I have the dex drive software, works great for creating blanks for various emulators and for importing saves, too. Am I allowed to attach it here, if anyone wants it?

It looks like abandonware...probably it's better for users to search themselves if they need it, instead of linking or attaching here.

Can be easily found and we don't have a rights problem in the forum.
