Title. I updated the TG-16 core and went to play some Rondo of Blood, but my save was gone after the update :(

Has anyone else had their saves deleted?

No such issue here.

Interesting...thing is, this happened to me once already with this game. That was when I was testing a controller adapter and that adapter was throwing random inputs at the MiSTer for a minute before I was able to turn it off. When I booted back up and went to play, my Rondo save was gone.

This time, I'm not sure what happened. I had been playing, had saved my game, died and turned off the MiSTer. the next day I updated then went to play and the save was gone.

Just really weird behavior...guess I just need to really pay attention when I'm using that core for a bit so if it happens again I can retrace my steps to see what I may have done

The first time, it could well have formatted the backup (it's one of the menu items after all).

Do you update using scripts? Maybe something went wrong at a step of the process? Just speculating.

It would be an exceptional stunt by the updater, since there’s no line of code touching saves dir...

is your SRAM set to auto-save? Otherwise you need to save it manually in the OSD every time...

I did indeed update using the regular updater script.

It is set to autosave and I even made sure the OSD was showing when I shutdown my MiSTer.

I'm playing Ys IV for the last 4 weeks and had no problems, so maybe it was a SD card fault.

Yeah, I guess I’ll have to do some more testing with games that save and see if I have any issues.

Also, I’ll probably just start backing up my Save folder more often

There is a script that allows you to upload the saves to google drive, comes in handy.

I’ve been meaning to take a look at that! I think I may have a project for this weekend while my lady is away :D

Do you know where I could access this script? Would love to use this, but I can't find it by searching the forums or google

It's in the scripts section on Github. If you run the official updater script, then you'll already have it downloaded and ready to use.
