USB Hub With Power Troubles

Unread post by Marvin_Flamenco »

I'm putting a mister together and I'm having trouble powering/connecting the usb hub. The hub I purchased from MisterKits came with a power splitter which I plugged into the power adapter for the de-10 nano.

If I only power the nano, it power on and runs just fine. If I use the splitter to power both devices, neither powers on. If I attempt to power just the hub and not the de-10, I get no led indicator or anything to tell me whether or not the device is powering on.

Thanks for any leads!

The default supply, which is only 2A/10W, isn't strong enough to power both devices. You want at least a 4 amp supply behind that splitter.

Many of the Mister vendors are selling a Mean Well power supply, I think mostly the same model. In looking on remcretro.com, theirs is the GST25A05-P1J.

Sorry but this statement is incorrect, the stock 2 amp power adapter which come with the DE10nano will easily power both the DE10nano and an usb hub connected this is just misinformation.

Do these hubs have a power indicator? It does nothing even when trying to power it solo with the psu.

How hard is this question to answer? Is there anything that lights up when these hubs are receiving power?

No.

If you have no USB devices plugged into the USB hub, no LEDs will light up, even when powered on.

However if you plug a USB device into the hub, the LED next to the corresponding USB socket will illuminate and the main LED on the hub will then also illuminate.
