1080p @ 120hz

Unread post by sevenmonkeys »

Hello everyone. I have a display that can support 1920 by 1080 at 120hz. Is their a way to make the Mister output 1080p 120hz. I can get 4ms latency at that resolution. Thanks.

You aren't going to get an effective 4 ms anyway because none of the Mister systems actually run at 120hz. Plus you'd have to engage vsync_adjust=0 which is going to add a buffer I.E. latency. Your best bet for latency, if your display can sync to it appropriately, is always going to be vsync_adjust=2, to get frames out as quickly as possible that match the core's original refresh rate.

Anything over 1920x1080p@60hz is considered overclocking the pixel clock on the DE-10.
And 1920x1080p@120hz is double the pixel clock so there is no chance at all.

It might be possible to do it at much lower resolutions, like 720p or 480p with custom video modes, but it still might be hard-locked by the hdmi chip, and as said above won't change the situation.
