Problems with my DE10-Nano

Unread post by Atm4n »

Hi!

I wonder if someone could point me to the right direction.

The problem:

My Mister (DE-10 nano) seems to be pressing F11, thats the same button as pairing BT controllers. Every time I enters a core/booting to menu the BT pairing menu appears.

Im only currently using the barebone DE-10 nano without addon cards or memory just to find this issue. I have reinstalled everything from scratch with mr fusion.

I even sent my DE-10 nano back to Terasic and they did not find any issues with my board.

I can somewhat use my board, but imagine if you constantly pressing F11. Things like mapping buttons are problematic.

Any clues?

Are you using an IO board?

Which peripherals do have have attached?

None, just the DE-10-nano.
Its just an OTG-cable to a keyboard, HDMI to a monitor.

Are there any hardware button that is the same as F11?

Have you tried an alternative keyboard? I've found that some keyboards that have excessive power draws (RGB LEDs usually) can cause issues, especially if you're also using a weak power supply.

If you were using an IO board you can invoke the OSD with a button (or hold for 3 seconds when the OSD is open).

It's probably also worth checking your DIP switches.

Thanks for the links.

Now I even pulled the OTG so I have just the power supply (original DE10 power) and HDMI.
I still getting the BT-pairing menu. (F11). No IO board at all.

The dip-switches seems to be correct, I rock them back and forth to be sure.

Bit of a strange one, outside of a clean installation and/or trying another micro SD card I'm not sure what else to suggest.

My De-10 has a similar behavior that resulted from static shock when pressing the User button. The De-10 seems to have the User button constantly pressed. I gave up on it and have ordered a new one.

Perhaps it's too obvious and it should have been eliminated with a reinstall but have you checked your button mapping? Perhaps F12 is also mapped to F11?

If you have everything disconnected my thoughts are these.
As KneeTie said the DE-10 was fried by a static shock.
Or some short somewhere.

I would probably look the board over very thoroughly preferably with a magnifying glass because it can be very hard to see a short on this small components/traces.

You could also try terrasics offical sd card/image and see how that boots and works.

This post from a few months ago has the same problem, perhaps this is some kind of rare bug with the mister software rather than a hardware issue, or rather a combination of both.
