Playstation Classic Controller - Any Good vs SNAC?

So yes original controller and hardware are the best, no argument.

However the playstation classic wired USB does actually pretty damn well with barely over 2 ms input latency
(according to https://rpubs.com/misteraddons/inputlatency)

These controllers are like 20 USD on ebay which is probably around the same price as a real Playstation one. So I'm just curious if anyone has used the classic vs SNAC, I know there are some compromises with memory card slots, could this be a workaround? Because the classic controller is identical to the OG right? Don't own either so just curious.

PS classic controller is pretty good but it lacks dualshock features - analog sticks and rumble.
Only 2 games require those features (Ape Escape and some JAP only cooking game) but they are nice to have ;)

Additionally, and likely because of these omissions, while it works quite well, the feel in the hand doesn't seem quite faithful to the original. The classic is very lightweight and the plastics are a little bit different.

One more nitpicky thing, the USB side isn't a standard width usb port, it has a flare on either side.
So if you are using a device with two ports side by side, you couldn't plug both in without an extension.

Still a great controller but i provably wouldn't go out of my way to buy more. I got in on the closeout sales when the PS classic was $20 all in with 2 controllers.

edit: whooops sorry for the necrobump, didnt notice that was a september '22!

I wouldn't worry about the bump. I've seen that the preference is to continue discussion on the same thread rather than starting a new one even years later. So given that, I don't think you committed any transgressions, and I think your message was a good addition to the question in the original post!

You can open up the controller and replace the cable. It's just a micro USB that plugs in internally.

As an alternate opinion, I would go out of my way to buy more (In fact I'm looking for another as I've only got one).

I've always preferred the PSX digital controller (SCPH-1080) to the Dual Shock, so this is perfect for me. And as someone who has 7 original PSX controllers with varying issues (mostly dpad), a fresh new controller with precise control and non-mushy membranes is very welcome. Yes, the plastic is a bit different (more matte vs the semi glossy original), but the shape and feel are very similar (the SCPH-1080 was also super light compared with the Dual Shock).

I mainly use it with the PSX core, but it also works great for SNES (and is fine for NES, PC Engine, etc. as well). I think it's a great option for a cheap, low latency wired MiSTer controller.

That is a very generous offer! Unfortunately, I live halfway around the world from the US and I'm afraid the shipping costs would be quite high...

I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness though, thank you!
