I cannot move the paddles in Pong

I have "Pong (Rev E).mra" inside the directory /media/fat/_Arcade. The game loads and plays fine from what I see, but the only working button is "Start". I have tried with multiple joystick devices and also keyboard. Nothing. I have remapped the buttons and saved the settings. Still nothing. Even keyboard doesn't work. Is this the same for everyone or just me?

What other button do you need to play Pong?

Right now I can only press Start (which restarts the game).
I need to at least be able to go up and down, so I can move the paddle. I realised that the word "buttons" in the title was misleading so I've changed it now appropriate to avoid any confusion. My apologies. Anyway, I've just came across https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Arcade-Pong_MiSTer which states that reason I cannot use my controller.

-Q: Help! I'm unable to move the paddles using the keyboard!
A: Currently only analog joystick controls are supported.

That said, I guess I need two things:

  1. An Atari SNAC
  2. An Analog controller, like https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Nikou-Consol ... amp&sr=8-6

Right?

Is Pong only a 2 player came? no computer option to play in one player mode?

That's correct. It was pure TTL, there was no way to build AI logic that long ago.
