Fat PS2 memory card and controller assembly for SNAC?

Hey guys, I have a broken fat PS2, would it be possible to take the memory card/controller assembly from this and use it for SNAC?

What's wrong with it? It might be repairable, seems a waste to take out those parts when you can get them on Aliexpress for a few dollars shipped.
