Load Games From Drive Connected to My Asus Router (SMB)

Unread post by photomatik »

I've been trying to use the cifs_mount script to see if I couldn't load games from a drive connected directly in my router.
I'm not a networking wiz, but using the server name, I get an error message that displays the proper IP address of my router, so it's getting seen.

The message says system call failed. the host is down with the IP address and the folder I'm trying to connect to.

At this point I've tried everything I could think of, use the direct ip address, change the config every way possible, tried v02 and v03, and I keep getting that same message.

Is there some limitations with SMB on routers, on specific routers or anything else I'm missing?

I tried creating a shared folder on my PC and I was able to access it, however it's a laptop that will not always be on, and it would be really great if I could use the USB drive connected to my router for this.

Anyone has any insight on doing this?
