Robotron X Double Joystick Issue?

Unread post by Mrhide »

Hello,

I have a MiSTercade (if that matters?) and the original Robotron works great but I've always loved Robotron X. But I have the following issue:

By default the "firing joystick" is configured with the buttons but there are in game setting to set the controls to use the directions from the second joystick, aka like the real thing!
It works right, up and down but on the LEFT, it moves our hero to the RIGHT at the time... which ruins the fun.

I've tried to also remap the PSX buttons to the second joystick in the miSTer menu but with the same results.

Checking the joysticks in another game setup (CPS2 SF Alpha 2 setup) shows no issue with joysticks. (or the original robotron, which works great)

Anyone have the same issue? ... and / or a solution ?!
Much appreciated!

Did you turn on analog joystick support in the core (and map the analog sticks in MiSTer Main)?

I don't have analog sticks, I am playing on sanwa joysticks:

...so I did choose "digital joysticks".

will see if choosing Analog makes any differences and report back. thanks!

In the input test of the mister, I see an analog positive X input 127 when I move the second joystick to the left ...

I've tried in another cab and it does the same thing.

anyone with 2 joystick can try the same? do you ahve the same results?

I have a mistercade so I've asked the same question on that side to see if I get similar results.

What kind of usb arcade encoder are you using, or is it straight JAMMA to something like a MiSTercade?

What happens when you use a USB gamepad instead? Same behavior? If so it's something that might need fixing in the core (software is causing some kind of inversion of the axis on one joystick when that setting is turned on), if not then it could be something in Main or in your hardware layout.

The Mistercade dude replied :

"In order to have twin stick support at all, P2 stick maps to some axis. Playstation core automatically decides which axis are analog sticks. I don't think there's a solution that will allow for MiSTercade twin sticks, and the playstation core"

/cry /ohwell

Hard to justify a swap option for this special setup, but you can easily swap the analog stick direction in the source code if you really want to.
Maybe there is also an option in the ini file?
