No Login Prompt when pressing F9 - Just blinking cursor

I am not sure why, but when I press F9, I no longer get a login prompt. I get a blank text screen with a flashing cursor in the corner. If I run a bash script, I can see the Login prompt and when it finishes it says Press Any Key to Continue which works and brings me back to the MiSTer menu. Any ideas on why I am not getting a Login prompt and how to check and remedy the situation? Thanks!
