Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
Thanks for the core! I used update_all yesterday, and the core was downloaded but not the mra's. I put the mra's from github, and run update_all again, but the roms didn't download. Anybody else with this trouble?

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
The mras where not in the right place in the repository, this is fixed. You may also have run the update all script too early before the roms where made available in Arcade ROMs DB. Run it again.

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
@jca, did you manage to get the rom for Pirat Pet? That is the only one that was not downloaded.
Thanks!
EDIT: I have figured it out. The required files were included within Jungle King so all I did was to copy the junglek rom and rename it to piratpet!

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
Yesterday I did not have a chance to try anything, only did the update. Today is early morning and I just loaded the first 2 mras, planning to test everything later on during the day. Thanks for the tip. Instead of duplicating the rom I edited the mra and changed the rom name to junglek.zip.

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
Thanks for coming back to me. Yeah, editing the MRA is even a better idea!
These games are awesome! Spent a lot of money on Jungle King when I was a kid
Many thanks again to @antongale!!
Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
Thanks @antongale! Awesome work!!
I got everything from update_all (although it wasnt available earlier)
Elevator Action works fine. The sound is perfect. I never heard the tunes like this, even emulating on a high-end pc.
There are some gfxs glitches on directvideo mode, which i dont remember seeing in the tweeter previews from AntonGale.

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
I see that the mra has been fixed in the repository:
<rom index="0" md5="none" zip="piratpet.zip|junglek.zip" type="merged|nonmerged">
Update all grabs it.

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
Anyone else having trouble with Elevator Action with the up/down directions being sluggish/not very responsive? I get stuck either crouching or not being able to crouch in time. Great game but controls are currently frustrating.

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
The original Elevator Action cabinet had a 4-way joystick (as opposed to Jungle King for example, which used an 8-way).
As with some other 4-way arcade games on MiSTer, the movement may be finicky when using an 8-way controller.

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
I am so grateful for Elevator Action, and also Jungle Hunt and the others, but especially Elevator Action. I haven't played it on an arcade machine since I was a kid, and I wasn't very good at it. I played it this weekend on my brand new arcade cabinet that I made with a 4-way joystick (Dominux 8 with 4-way restrictor plate), and it worked perfectly. All my years of playing the NES version made me good at the arcade game automatically. This tells me that the NES port is really good. I got to the fourth board and something like 33,600 points on my first game. Not bad for me. I have no idea if that is good or not, but for me it is pretty good. Thanks Anton Gale!
Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
Anyone else seeing random character sized artifacts appearing on screen with the Taito arcade cores? I seem to have issues with all the cores. It does not crash the game.

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
Yes, I see these errors and characters too. Since I don't mind arcade cores, I haven't reported it, but I bet everybody is getting the same errors.
Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
Noticed a weird bug in Pirate Pete running on Mistercade.
If I press and hold button 2 (not used in the game) the game skips/advances to the next level.
Does not do this in Jungle King with the same button mappings.
Possibly a 'rack' setting? Or a bug? Anybody else notice this?
Also, I am not seeing any graphic errors as reported above.
Taito core is awesome!
Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
the problems with right hand side of the sprites in the Taito SJ core have been resolved by AntonGale.
New rbf downloads with update_all
Elevator Action works a charm!

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
Thanks for this core. I played Jungle King in a old log cabin store when I was really young with my brother. Brings back a lot of memories. It plays exactly like I remember it did.

Insert Coins?
I can't seem to find any information about how to insert coins for any of the Taito games. My controller has no default coin button and the dip switch settings have some cryptic settings (about 18 different ones). Nothing on GitHub about it?
How are you all putting coins into these titles? (from a controller?)
Thanks

On standard controllers, it's common to map coin to the select button. Many arcade cores also respond to the F5 key as 1p coin (not sure about this particular core though).

Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
The first-level theme music from Pirate Pete is the snizzle! Had no idea that version ever existed, very cool.
Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
I really hope that Anton remember to fix the escalator glitch (vertical offset issue with the sprite line buffer) in the mister core. He mentioned it as fixed for the A.Pocket, but never said anything else on the mister side (afaik)..
Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
"When traversing the escalator in Elevator Action, the floor in front of the player is switched to a sprite to give the illusion of going behind the floor."
It seems Anton Gale forgot about this bug. ( fixed for the Anal. Pocket -pun intended- but still present in miSTer core)
Re: Taito System SJ Core Released
Does someone else have problems with Jungle Hunt and clones?
I'm having serious sprite glitches on Jungle Hunt/P.Pete: The vines/ropes are spliced and offset.
Is this caused by the "Sprite offset issue (vertical and horizontal)" mentioned on GitHub?
