Please can I have any recommendations for a direct video adaptor that also has audio out, that's available in the UK that you know works with Mister. I have tried 3 and gave a startech one on order but not having much luck.

i don't know if this one is available from Amazon UK, but i receive it this week and i confirm it's working well with direct_video=1 and it has audio (without needed external power supply)

I do confirm that the model shown by Xbytez works, I have the same.
For the other one, I do not know as I do not have it but I prefer anyway the 1st one to avoid having constrains on the HDMI port of the Mister.
I do not like to have a direct adapter on the HDMI port (same for USB etc), I prefer to have a piece of cable to avoid to much stress on the connector.
