How to fix the sound issue in C64 core?

Unread post by DeanHutter »

I'm a new user of MiSTer FPGA and I'm enjoying the C64 core very much. However, I have a problem with the sound output. Sometimes, the sound is distorted, crackling, or missing completely. I've tried different HDMI cables, monitors, and speakers, but the problem persists. I've also updated the core to the latest version (2024-01-28), but it didn't help. I've read the forum post here and it seems that some other users have the same issue, but I couldn't find a solution. Can anyone help me with this issue?

Can you link to those similar posts?

Does the choice of chip (8580 or 6581) or filter settings influence this problem?

Are you talking digital (via HDMI) only and/or analog out?

What's your sample rate in the INI?

There is an issue with the digifix being applied wrongly to 8580 samples and music but there a test build which adds a manual toggle now.

Can you give us more info ?
