New pvm user - what cable to use ? Only one sync input on display

I picked up my first pvm today, I had planned on using my existing monitor cable which is a vga - bmc which has red green blue grey and black but the pvm has a combined sync input

I can see colours on screen but not synced, is there a better cable I should be using or is it something in my setttings and one of the sync cables will work ok?

Any advice is appreciated !

Set mister.ini to composite sync, then use the black cable (I think). If it doesn't work, try the gray- it won't hurt anything, but I believe it was the black cable.
