IO Board with 2 User I/O ports?

Would an IO board variation with 2 User I/O ports be possible?
Maybe in place of the second sd card slot?
When the psx core is available, it would be great to be able to play 2-player lightgun games, also 2 player snac would be cool to see as an option for other cores.
