Use MiSTer as a video lag tester?

Hi there,
I was wondering if the mister device could be configured to detect and display video lag?
A photo diode would need to be wired to the unit (maybe through the input port) and results displayed on the screen.
Very much like the Time Sleuth, could this be done and is it complex?
