Re: DC Extension Cable?
I bought this set on Amazon back in October 2020. I use just one of the cables + the switch for my MiSTer and it's been really great! I haven't noticed any issues. I do use the USB to go hub rather than the stackable USB board though, in case that matters.

Re: MiSTer to an HD CRT?
Hello! A bit of a bump here. So I have been starting to dabble a bit into this hobby and I apologize if I am totally off base but I have an opportunity to get a Sony HDCRT and while I know they are less than desirable, with the recent discovery of the near lagless 1080i/540p mode and reading through this thread among others, has anyone else used t...

Re: Analog I/O board RGB levels
I'm pretty interested in this. I've posted probably too much about issues getting some cores to sync properly, though they do sync if there's a bright enough screen. If the green is a little low, that could explain what's going on (from my very limited knowledge; I could also be totally off base.) It's probably a non-issue and not at all related to...

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future
My absolute dream is to be able to play Taito's Night Striker and Space Gun on my MiSTer. They're both Taito Z System arcade games from 1989 or so, and I love them. There are only 8 games for the Z System: Aqua Jack Battle Shark Chase H.Q. Continental Circus Double Axle Night Striker Space Gun (video game) Special Criminal Investigation I don't kno...

Re: Total newbie trying to get CRT TV to work
I don't know what you're trying to do here but it's weird. For component video you need the analog I/O board which has a sync on green switch. Then in your mister.ini you need to enable composite sync, ypbpr and direct video. It's simple. I wish it were that simple, but I promise you that it doesn't work on my TV. I have an I/O board with a SOG sw...

Re: Total newbie trying to get CRT TV to work
Hey there! And welcome! There are some settings that we can try, but please be aware that it may not be possible to get your MiSTer to work with your CRT. I have 3 CRTs and only 1 works flawlessly; one of the others doesn't even display the menu core for more than a second; the third kind of works sometimes, depending on how bright things get. It'...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
Bah, wait. I misread you. You are measuring sync PLUS Y. For clarification, Y is your old school black and white television picture. We refer to it as “luma”. If you take that green wire, plug it into a composite video input, you should get a stable black and white picture. So sync plus Y Is yielding just short of 3v, but that doesn’t tell us the ...

Re: Guide Setting up Remote MIDI Emulation (Midilink, Munt, Windows)
What would I have to change if I want to run this in a portable setting without wifi/LAN? E.g. running munt on a RPi next to the MiSTer, is there a way to connect MIDI between the two with cables/connectors? You could also do it using a crossover network cable. This would connect the MiSTer's network port directly to the Raspberry Pi's network por...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
I did a little digging, and apparently anything between 0.3vp-p and 1.0vp-p is acceptable, so that sync pulse would have to be awfully weak. Thanks again for your thoughts! I just grabbed my MiSTer and my meter and the component cables that I'm using. The meter I have is just a basic one (this one, precisely: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/1296...

Re: Custom Video Modes Test Thread
...It feels like a bug to me, but it might just be my ignorance in video signaling... Your issue reminds me of a scenario where a monitor/TV input is "consuming" too much of your sync signal, causing the voltage to drop. Without appropriate voltage levels, monitor simply doesn't see the signals, and can't sync. With white video (pretty m...

Are you using an IO Board or are you using an HDMI to VGA DAC?
But yeah, unfortunately analog signals are a pain with MiSTer.

Re: direct_video, ypbpr, and hdmi_limited
I've just been hoping that there's a solution that can be applied to the issues I'm seeing with my IO Board. Oh well! For what it's worth, I tested it with a Moread HDMI to VGA adapter (I set ypbpr=1, direct_video=1) and the OSD won't display when going through that adapter, so it probably wouldn't have helped me anyway. Did you use the mod linked...

Re: direct_video, ypbpr, and hdmi_limited
Those coefficients are only used with direct video with HDMI->VGA adapter so they won't help with the IO board. Re: direct_video, ypbpr, and hdmi_limited
The ypbpr setting overrides the hdmi_limited setting so it has no effect if ypbpr=1 & direct_video=1. Try this SNES core. It has corrected coefficients for SDTV YPbPr for better colors and it should be less bright. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SwHUEAD4jWLzdD5KJmUd3MOJnqlx2PBW/view?usp=sharing Woah, did you make this? Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
Thanks for the suggestions! I've tried with composite_sync=0 and composite_sync=1; they both act the same. I'm content to use the S-Video adapter since I already have it, but it would be nice if there were some way to boost the component video output for people running into the same issue I run into. Thanks for the links! That HDMI to Component ada...

Re: Custom Video Modes Test Thread
The Menu displays fine enough and the NES core works perfectly, but the Genesis, SNES, and GBA cores (at least) show a rolling image. If you load a game and the screen gets bright enough, it will sync. What I mean is that, for instance, if you start the Genesis Core and can load Zombies Ate My Neighbors, but you hit start to skip the Konami intro,...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
In case anyone else comes by this thread looking for info, I talked with Sorgelig through the Genesis Core github , and he mentioned two things about this issue: May be sync level is not enough for your TV. Component output on MiSTer is simplified and kind of hacky. and It's HW issue. You need a better converter from RGB to Component. Or at least s...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
None of the 3 TVs have had caps replaced. They display pictures just fine for most things; if I plug an actual Genesis into them, they work fine. With the MiSTer, it's repeateable that the NES core works fine always, but the other cores only "sync" after loading a game. And the Menu core works fine always, too. I suppose it could be caps,...

Re: Custom Video Modes Test Thread
Rise from your grave, thread. I've been trying to get Component output from my MiSTer through an IO Board v6.1 to a consumer CRT that has component video inputs. I'm using YPBPR=1 and video_mode=6. The Menu displays fine enough and the NES core works perfectly, but the Genesis, SNES, and GBA cores (at least) show a rolling image. If you load a game...

Re: INI setting for a HDMI>Composite cable
What kind of issues are you seeing?
What composite cable did you buy?
In theory I'd use:
direct_video=1
composite_sync=1
I'm not sure if those can both play together well, as direct_video is really meant for the HDMI to VGA adapters that people recommend. But it's worth trying.

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr
I've got some more evidence. A friend of mine pointed out that if you load a game, they'll sync. Putting that to the test, it seems like games only sync when the screen is bright enough. For instance, if you start the Genesis core and start Zombies Ate My Neighbors, but you hit start and skip the Konami screen, the game never syncs. But if you let ...
