Re: Commodore 128 for the MiSTer?

I saw the changelog and tried the VDC output in Basic and also the "Risen from Oblivion" VDC demo.

All works fine and shows on my 15kHz CRT, but I see a slight horizontal ripple in that video mode. It is most visible with the OSD active. Vertical sync is stable.

Re: Some questions regarding C64 and Wonderswan Color

With the C64, there are multiple variations on how to transition from the start screen to the game: Joystick button (it had two joystick ports, so you might need to try "Swap Joystick" in the OSD), space bar, return and one of the function keys. With James Bond, you can select the number of players and difficuly with F3 and F5 (which they...

To ensure that it is not a problem with that particular monitor/tube, I tried another 1802 that has SCART RGB. The test picture is clear with SCART-RGB, and shows the same visible overlap with S-Video:

One update: the fuzzy color borders are far more visible in NTSC consoles than in their PAL counterparts.

Re: MiSTerFPGA Y/C Out Module (Direct - S-Video / Composite Output) - Update

Hi, I recently got a Commodore 1802 monitor. While waiting for parts to make my own RGB cable (that model uses 6-pin DIN instead of SCART) I tried the S-Video connection with my analogue board and a DB15 to cinch RGB cable. After setting vga_mode, ntsc_mode and sync-on-green, I get a rather nice and sharp color picture. But I noticed that the chrom...

Re: Connecting Dell LCD Monitor via VGA

If you get no picture, check if you set DVI mode correctly:

Code: Select all

; set to 1 for DVI mode. Audio won't be transmitted through HDMI in DVI mode.
dvi_mode=1

Also double check that the video_mode is correct.

If XT function keys only went to F10, then obviously it wouldn't matter.

Yes, there were only 10 function keys on the original 83-key "Model F" keyboard for IBM PC/XT.

I had an XT clone (got it in 1989) with a clone keyboard, which also used this layout.

If a 720x348 pixel image is rendered on a 600x300 plane, information is lost. Scaling back will not recover that information.

Yes, I'm surprised too, but that's the output information it gives when you activate the information in MiSTer.ini ... you can check it yourself, I have to do some more research to understand why it happens. Now that you mention it, I see it in your youtube video. Sadly I do not know much about the communication between cores and the framework. Ma...

Re: MDA Upgrade to Hercules

Yes, I have identified it... there is a shift of the screen to the left. Apparently there are two resolutions used, 720x348 and 600x300 ... and the latter is the one that generates the scrolling. I am surprised by this. I always thought that there is only the 720x348 mode on Hercules. I did some programming on DOS as a teenager, and no graphics li...

Hi,

something like this could work: https://smile.amazon.de/dp/B07TNTJXSR

It depends on the cabling but usually they just bridge the corresponding lines.

Can someone explain to me like I'm 5 what pixel repetition support offers? What it is? What are the benefits? I do not know how to explain it to a 5-year-old, but I'll try to keep it simple. HDMI transfers full images from the MiSTer to the display. The larger the resolution and the higher the refresh rate, the more bandwidth is needed on the HDMI...

added
Arcade-Druaga.rbf to /media/fat/_arcade/cores

You need to rename to Druaga.rbf and remove the old Druaga-<DATE>.rbf.

Also notice that update_all will add the old rbf file again.

Re: Pinball Illusion AGA, Display Issue in High-Res

Tested it using MegaAGS20220303 and the latest Minimig rfb. Hi-Res works fine on both my DVI 1600x1200 monitor and my Sony 14" Trinitron connected with VGA->SCART.

You might want to check the video options. I am using

Code: Select all

video_mode=1600,1200,60,cvtrb
vscale_mode=0
vsync_adjust=2
forced_scandoubler=0

Re: Grobda - Shield Button not Working?

I tested some of the arcades based on this core. There is one noticable regression: playing on a regular (yoko) monitor with the "Vertical" orientation setting, the aspect ratio is ignored. Both "original" and "wide" now fill the screen completely.

Did you define the joystick buttons in the mister menu before using a core? That is a required step for any new input device you connect to your mister. Check https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Wiki_Mi ... ck-Mapping for details

Sorry, I am working abroad for a few months and did not bring my mister. The ini is nothing special anymore, I changed the manual video mode to the new setting with just the resolution and cvt flag. Vsync adjust is 2, only for PlayStation I set it to 1.

Mine works fine with the automatic video mode that gets generated when setting 1600,1200,60 and cvt-rb. I connect using a hdmi-dvi adapter. Vsync adjust works fine in a range from 49 to 75 Hz.

Re: Custom Joysticks All Have Same ID

Anybody know a work around for this or if there is a fix in the pipeline? I cannot think of a way how it could work otherwise. Devices with the same usb ids actually are all the same for the linux kernel. It has no further way to differentiate them, and will not neccessarily enumerate them in the same order on boot. So it makes sense that MiSTer s...

Re: S-Video and Composite Over Component Output! (Custom Cores)

With RGB SCART the color information is directly available in the 3 color inputs. Newer European sets can mostly manage both 50Hz and 60Hz signals, and with SCART RGB you will get a color picture as well. For S-Video and Composite, the color information needs to be encoded with the other information. NTSC and PAL use different ways of encoding. Man...

I un-xv-ed and untarred the Etch disk image on my PC and put it onto the MiSTer sdcard. Left everything default in the core, selected the HDD image file and did a reset using the osd. It takes quite some time until the bios boot message appears. Bios finds the disk and I pressed return when the boot prompt was waiting for input.

update_all.sh has extensive settings. Push the "up" button on your controller when the scripts starts to enter the settings menu. To get all Jotego cores (including betas), enable the corresponding setting.
